MORIAH BROWN, ACTRESS & MODEL

Moriah Brown has a presence that commands a room before she even speaks. Raised in East Los Angeles and drawn to the spotlight from a young age, she was the eldest of five, born to parents who once worked in entertainment. But unlike many child stars, Moriah’s journey wasn’t one of instant fame. At a young age, she stepped back from the industry to live a “normal” life, returning only when she felt ready to bring her whole self to the screen. And that decision paid off.

Today, Moriah is everywhere: from international modeling campaigns for Reebok and Moira Cosmetics to scene-stealing roles on Power Book: Ghost and Raising Dion. Now, she’s making waves with her upcoming role in Tyler Perry’s Six Triple Eight, set to premiere on Netflix.

In addition to her breakout roles in Power Book: Ghost and Raising Dion, Moriah is the founder of Tribe. This creative community celebrates connection and support among artists in an industry known for its challenges. With her next role in Tyler Perry’s Netflix project, Six Triple Eight, Moriah sits down with Ebby to talk about resilience, reinvention, and what it means to create a career—and a community—that feels true to who she is.

“I want to be more present. It’s about immersing ourselves in the moment and cherishing the time we have with those we love.”

Having been in the entertainment industry since you were five, what key lessons from your early experiences continue to influence you today?

Key lessons I’ve learned from being in the entertainment industry since I was five is to be yourself and truly have fun. Right now, it’s really hard to be in this industry. It’s not easy to get a job, and auditions are scarce, so being in the moment and being grateful to the universe and God for the opportunity to be on set is one of the key lessons I’ve learned.

You’ve worked with legendary brands like Barbie and Disney and made your mark on the big screen. Have any moments in your career shifted how you view your work and the stories you want to tell?

This last role definitely shifted how I view the roles I want to take on. This last role was very emotional and physical. I’m so used to sticking to the script that it really helped me grow as an actor to trust my instincts and dig deep within.

Strong, memorable roles define your career. What do you look for in a project, and what draws you to specific stories?

I look forward to working with talented people and learning from them; I genuinely look for layered roles that will challenge me as an actor. I’m so blessed even to be able to be sent a script. I truly love everyone’s stories and would love to read them all. Right now, I’m really into telling stories that are complicated, multi-layered, and action-packed.

How do you prioritize living your best life and staying true to yourself in a world that often imposes expectations? What practices or mindsets help you embrace your individuality and overcome challenges?

I prioritize living my best life pretty easily, I’d say lol. I think I was raised to always stay true to myself, so that comes easily; however, when it comes to a world filled with expectations, it does get tough. I guess, to be honest, I’ve been used to criticism my whole life. So, I take it with a grain of salt and always choose to move forward to what makes me happy.

Your role in Six Triple Eight sounds like it will be a game-changer. What was it like collaborating with Tyler Perry and Kerry Washington on such a powerful project?

Working with Tyler Perry and Kerry Washington was a dream! Kerry is so gracious with her time and care. She made it a point to get to know us and truly bond with our ensemble cast. It was so fun to have pajama nights with her, making TikToks and getting to know each other. Tyler is a GOAT; just watching him create and direct was magical. He truly knows what he wants and what he is doing. He was so gracious to my cast mate and me with a scene we wanted to change up a bit; he gave us his trust and allowed us to play! It was so awesome of him to give us that space to do so!

You’re not just an actress—you’ve founded Tribe, a community for artists and influencers. What inspired you to create this space, and how has it evolved since its inception?

Yes, Tribe is my baby! I created the space and community in 2019. I truly felt like there was a void that needed to be filled when it came to sisterhood in the industry I’m in and living in Los Angeles. Everything always felt so competitive, and I really wanted to be around like-minded women who knew what is meant for you would never pass you up —so I decided to create an engagement group; whenever I went to auditions and, I felt the true support and love of women who were like-minded, I asked if they wanted to be apart of it. The engagement grew from 6 to 10 to 30 women and onward and upward, and the women all wanted to meet each other. So I realized I had to create an event to bring them all together, and 2019 was the Genesis of that first annual Tribe Soirée. It continues to grow to this day. We are in our sixth year and looking forward to it growing every year, cross-marketing with brands and like-minded women who want to be in a safe space.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far? Which moments have made you pause and think, “This is why I do this”?

The most rewarding part of my career so far is the people! The fans who really are supporting my journey! It means the world to me and really shows me how much I can influence and make the world a little bit better. Knowing that I have inspired and/or motivated the next generation to follow their dreams really is a blessing, and I want them to know that their support drives me as well!

As a genuine “quadruple threat,” how do you balance acting, producing, creative direction, and the other facets of your career?

I have no idea how I balance anything! To be honest, I truly just think that when your heart is in the right place, the universe and God will follow and support and uplift you. I love creative direction, and I love producing. I love acting, and I think it’s a juggling act for sure. However, the truth is some days, you fall short, and you just gotta learn how to pick up and move forward. I’m not the best at balancing, but I know that the universe has my back and whatever I set my mind to will get done.

What’s next for you? Are there any exciting new projects or dreams you’re currently pursuing?

I have two films coming out when it action base and one is a thriller. I’m super excited because I haven’t done either before, so it definitely has helped me grow as an actor, and I will be sure to let you guys know where to find it once it gets ready to come out!
