NICOLE KIDMAN’S
PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 BEAUTY LOOK BRINGS 90S GLAMOUR

For the Los Angeles premiere of Practical Magic 2, Nicole Kidman brought a modern take on ’90s glamour to the red carpet. Makeup artist Gucci Westman reveals the inspiration behind the look—and the Clé de Peau Beauté essentials she relied on to create it.

Nearly three decades after Practical Magic first cast its spell, Nicole Kidman returns to the world of the Owens sisters in Practical Magic 2, the sequel to the beloved 1998 film—and brings a little of the ’90s with her. Her beauty look takes its cue from the glamour of the decade, reimagined with luminous skin, softly defined eyes and the kind of polish that feels entirely of the moment.

Behind the makeup was Gucci Westman, who created the look exclusively with Clé de Peau Beauté, the luxury Japanese beauty house for which Kidman serves as Global Brand Ambassador.

Makeup Artist Gucci Westman on the Inspiration

For Westman, the starting point was Kidman’s black lace Versace dress, which immediately called to mind the glamour of the ’90s. “Tonight’s makeup look inspiration started with the gorgeous Versace dress. I immediately thought of the ‘90s, which is so synonymous with Versace, and Nicole has the amazing natural beauty of the supermodels of that decade. I wanted to evoke the essence of that time but keep it very modern and just highlight her.”

That final thought—just highlight her—became the through line of the look. Rather than interpreting the ’90s literally, Westman borrowed its sensuality and restraint. Considered texture, light and color allowed Kidman’s features to remain unmistakably her own.

The Art of the Complexion

The luminosity began with meticulous skin preparation. Westman used The Serum, Eye Contour Cream Supreme and Advanced Protective Day Cream. She followed with Synactif Daytime Moisturizer and UV Protective Cream SPF 50+.

For the complexion, she turned to Correcting Cream Veil and Radiant Fluid Foundation Natural in O10 Light Ocher. Concealer in 1 Ivory and 3 Beige provided additional refinement. Finally, Powder Blush Duo in 102 Cherry Blossom brought a soft, petal-like flush to the cheeks, while Refining Pressed Powder added polish.

The Defining Details

Westman carried that subtlety through to the eyes, beginning with Radiant Corrector for Eyes in Ivory and Eyebrow Pencil in 203 Light Brown. Eye Liner Pencil in 202 Brown and shades from the Eye Color Quad in 4 Ocean Sunrise and 8 Warm Ocean Sunset added warmth and dimension.

Intensifying Liquid Eyeliner in 1 Black brought a precise touch of definition, while Perfect Lash Mascara in 1 Black finished the eyes. The result was subtle but deliberate, with just enough depth to frame Kidman’s gaze.

For the lips, Westman layered Clé de Peau Beauté Lipstick Matte in 122 Pink Petunia and 110 Exuberant. The pairing brought a romantic finish to the look, balancing the darker lace of the Versace dress with the softness of the complexion.

There are echoes of the ’90s here, but the effect feels entirely of the moment. The glow of the skin, precision around the eyes and softness of the color come together with an ease that feels distinctly Kidman.
